See overleaf for latest news and local contacts
A few weeks ago it crept out through the media that London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), the company behind the London Paramount leisure scheme, has put back the date for submission of its planning application (known as a Development Control Order or DCO) until at least 2017.
Now, don’t ask whether that is January or December 2017! The bets are on later in the year…if 2017 at all.
But all due credit to the Chief Executive of LRCH, he did inform PMG immediately the news had broken….and it looks as though he was caught on the hop as well by his chairman (ex-politician Steve Norris) who used his regular column in the trade magazine ‘Property Week’ to announce the delay and tell everybody that the company has the cash to splash!
We’ll update you on that one when you attend the general meeting planned for ………………..
Notwithstanding these latest developments, the PMG Board has been particularly active over recent months, making all the noise in the political circles where it is important our cause is heard. The most recent meeting was with the Interim Chief Executive of Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, Paul Spooner, who is keen to ensure the Swanscombe Peninsular businesses are not lost…reassuring words but there’s a long fight ahead!
Late last year and so far this year, PMG’s board has met key politicians and organisations who have the influence to act for us as local constituents and a vital North Kent employment hub.
To date, those briefed on the threat to the many businesses and jobs include:
- Gravesham Borough Council
- Dartford Borough Council
- Kent County Council
- Ebbsfleet Development Corporation
- Adam Holloway MP for Gravesend
The reception generally has been very positive but for some reason the local Member of Parliament for Dartford, Gareth Johnson, seems to be running scared. We might need to organise a mass walk on his office on a Friday in coming weeks but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt for the moment. It’s always better to organise these things when he is about to run off on his summer holiday so timing is of the essence!
In the meantime, we encourage you to attend the general meeting between 10am – 2pm on Friday, 3rd June at xxxxx Village Hall or contact one of the following so that you can become part of the Group and benefit from the expertise at hand to save your business and your jobs!
