PMG NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2017
LRCH changes and what does it mean?
You can’t helped to have noticed the recent bustle of activity about the London Paramount project. The big question from both the media and politicians: “What does it mean?” Simple: same product with new packaging.
We are not going to berate them but this is the third change in management since the project was launched five years ago and yet another new deadline announced. And no realistic timescales!
Interestingly, the only person with real development experience has left and once again there’s a banker sitting in the head chair!
What is PMG doing to influence the new team?
Since the new team was installed, we have had an on-going dialogue with them, they have visited the estates but we have yet to be convinced they are doing anything new.
They have started circulating a letter to all businesses and interested parties, requesting that businesses contact their agent Andrew Highwood of Savills to help him assemble a site database. It is stressed that the request for information is NOT compulsory at this stage
The letter is also accompanied by a leaflet explaining the acquisition and/or compensation process that they are required to go through as part of their DCO Application.
In the meantime, the PMG Executive are pushing them to publish a phased masterplan so that we are fully aware of their proposals and the timing. They have not got anything available at the moment.
Members of the Executive have met and are in regular contact with the Interim Chief Executive, Paul Spooner. The new LRCH team has met him but they are due to have a more detailed meeting with the EDC masterplanning team shortly.
EDC are pushing LRCH to ensure any businesses displaced by the London Paramount proposals are relocated locally. As a result, the amount of employment/industrial land coming forward locally is looking hopeful but as ever the really important matters will be in the detail.
We are trying to arrange a meeting, hopefully at Ebbsfleet United FC ground, where all members of PMG can meet the new LRCH Executive and its team to hear an update on the project.
The dates proposed are:
- 13th June
- 20th June
- Or 27th June
If you want to attend, please let Dan Bramwell (see below) know IMMEDIATELY as we hope to finalise the date ASAP.
A meeting is being proposed for early-mid May and, as things are now picking-up with the DCO submission threatened as early as November 2017, it is essential that as many existing and any new interested parties attend.
We’ll be outlining how PMG can help and work as a concentrated force to ensure businesses are fully aware of their rights and the DCO Application process.
PLEASE CONTACT DAN BRAMWELL IF YOU WANT FURTHER INFORMATION ON ANYTHING OR WANT TO GET INVOLVED WITH PMG.
